Scrollfluent — Terms of Use
Effective: 1 October 2026 · Version 3
These terms are an agreement between you and Isaac Fobi, doing business as Scrollfluent, a sole proprietor based in Oregon, United States ("we", "us"). Contact: [email protected].
How you agree. You accept these terms when you tap "Set it up" at the start of the app, and again when you start a trial or make a purchase. Both screens show links to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Scrollfluent and delete the app.
Please read section 3. Scrollfluent deliberately blocks apps on your phone, and that section explains what that means for you and how to get out at any time.
1. What Scrollfluent is
Scrollfluent is a Spanish-learning program. You choose apps you want to spend less time in, and the Spanish session becomes the way to open them. Correct answers open the apps for a set time, then they lock again. The locking uses Apple's Screen Time features.
2. Who can use it
- Scrollfluent is offered only in the United States.
- You must be at least 18, or have a parent or legal guardian agree to these terms for you.
- A parent may set Scrollfluent up on their child's phone. If you do, you agree to these terms for yourself and on behalf of your child. You are responsible for how it is used on that phone, and for the guardian PIN.
- A child under 13 may use Scrollfluent only on a phone a parent has set up in child mode. Accountability partners are not available in child mode.
3. What the lock means for you — read this
It's a commitment device, not a security product. Anyone holding the phone can end the lock by turning off Scrollfluent's Screen Time access in iOS Settings. A guardian PIN makes that harder, not impossible. Scrollfluent is not a parental-control or child-safety product, and it is not a treatment for any medical or psychological condition, including addiction or ADHD. If screen use is seriously affecting your life, please talk to a professional.
Don't lock anything you might need urgently. That includes messages, maps, rides, banking, health, medical, safety or accessibility apps. Emergency calling is handled by iOS and Scrollfluent cannot block it. Any app you do select really is unavailable until you finish a session or remove the lock.
You can always get out, without us:
- Open Scrollfluent and finish a session. The apps open.
- In iOS Settings → Screen Time, turn off Scrollfluent's access. Every lock drops immediately.
- Delete Scrollfluent, then reinstall it and open it once. iOS doesn't always lift a lock when the app is deleted mid-lock; opening the fresh install clears it. This erases the progress stored on the phone.
- A built-in failsafe is designed to release the lock about 24 hours after the app last ran. Don't rely on it as your only way out.
If a guardian PIN and an iOS Screen Time passcode are both set, options 2 and 3 may need that passcode. That is the point of setting one, so set it up only on a phone where that is what you want.
A lapsed subscription never locks you out. If a trial or subscription ends while apps are locked, the lock is released.
What we are not responsible for. You choose which apps to lock and for how long. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for anything you missed or could not do because an app you chose was locked while Scrollfluent worked as described. This does not apply where the lock failed to release because of our gross negligence or willful misconduct, or where the law does not allow this limit (see section 12).
4. Your account
The app creates an anonymous account the first time it opens. You don't give us a name, email or password. Anyone with your unlocked phone has access to your account, so keep the phone secure.
We sync your progress so you don't lose it, but we cannot guarantee it against loss. On a phone set up for a child, progress stays on the phone only, so deleting the app deletes it.
5. The guardian PIN
The PIN is stored only as a scrambled one-way hash on the phone. We cannot see it and we cannot recover it. If it is lost, a reset link goes to the guardian email address on the account. If both are lost, reinstalling the app is the only way out, and that erases the progress stored on the phone. Don't set a PIN you can't recover on a phone you depend on.
6. Guardian and accountability-partner emails
If you enter someone else's email address, you confirm that they have agreed to receive emails from Scrollfluent about your account. Don't enter anyone's address without their permission, and don't use this feature to harass anyone. We stop emailing any address when its owner asks, and we may stop at any time to prevent misuse.
7. Scrollfluent Pro: subscriptions and trials
What you're buying. Scrollfluent Pro is access to the Scrollfluent Spanish program and the features built around it. After setup, you need an active trial or subscription to start new locks and use the program. Finishing a session to open your apps always works, with or without Pro.
Plans. Pro is offered as a weekly, monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription. The price, billing period and any free trial are shown on the purchase screen and on the App Store before you confirm. Those shown terms are part of this agreement.
Apple handles payment. Purchases are made through your Apple Account and are subject to Apple's terms. We never see your payment details.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. For a free trial, the first charge comes when the trial ends.
- Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period, at the price you agreed to unless you're told of a price change in advance (see "Price changes" below), until you cancel. Your Apple Account is charged within the 24 hours before each period ends.
- Free trials. Where a trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription at the price shown unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. One trial per Apple Account; Apple decides eligibility.
- How to cancel. iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Scrollfluent → Cancel Subscription. You can also get there from the App Store. Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds ourselves. We don't give refunds or credits for partial periods, except where the law requires it.
- Price changes. If we raise the price of a subscription you already have, Apple notifies you in advance and, where required, asks for your consent. The new price applies only from a renewal after that notice. If you don't agree, cancel before it takes effect.
8. Your license to use the app
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Scrollfluent on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, as permitted by Apple's Usage Rules. The app, its content (including the lessons, word lists and exercises) and the Scrollfluent name belong to us or our licensors. The license ends if you break these terms or delete your account.
9. What you may not do
Don't:
- copy, reverse-engineer, resell or redistribute the app or its content;
- try to get Pro without paying, or to disrupt our servers or other people's accounts;
- use Scrollfluent to monitor or control another adult without their knowledge and consent; or
- set it up on a device for anyone who hasn't agreed to it, other than a child in your care.
10. Ending it
You can stop at any time: delete your account in Settings, or delete the app. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Cancel that separately (section 7). We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms or misuses the email features. If we end your access without a good reason, we'll tell you why and support your refund request to Apple.
11. No warranty
We work hard to make Scrollfluent reliable, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that the lock will always engage or release on time, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. It depends on Apple's Screen Time system, which we don't control. Some states don't allow these disclaimers, so they may not all apply to you.
12. Limit on our liability
To the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data or lost opportunities; and
- our total liability to you for all claims about Scrollfluent is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Scrollfluent in the 12 months before the claim and US $100.
These limits do not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, our gross negligence, willful misconduct or fraud, or anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Some states don't allow some of these limits, so they may not apply to you.
13. Disputes and governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, please email us at [email protected] so we can try to fix it. Any dispute will be decided in the state or federal courts located in Oregon, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court where you live. Nothing here takes away any right you have under the consumer-protection laws of your state.
14. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Scrollfluent or its content. We alone are responsible for maintenance and support (contact us at [email protected]); Apple has no obligation to provide any. If Scrollfluent fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. We, not Apple, are responsible for:
- claims about the app, including product-liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer-protection or privacy claims; and
- investigating and handling any claim that the app infringes someone's intellectual property.
You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties. When you use Scrollfluent you must also follow any third-party terms that apply, such as your wireless carrier's. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Where these terms and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement both apply, you get the benefit of whichever is more protective of you.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For a material change, we will give at least 30 days' notice in the app before it takes effect. If you have a subscription, you can cancel before then. If you keep using Scrollfluent after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. The version in effect when a dispute arose governs that dispute.
16. General
These terms, the Privacy Policy, the plan terms shown when you buy, and Apple's terms for App Store purchases together are the whole agreement between us about Scrollfluent. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't waived it. You may not transfer these terms. We may transfer them to someone who takes over Scrollfluent, and they would be bound by them. We may send you notices in the app, and you can send us notices at [email protected].
